Switzerland escapes second wave
Switzerland has so far escaped a second wave of infections and cantons are doing an excellent job on track and trace.
That’s the
view of epidemiologist Marcel Tanner who’s President of the Academies of
Sciences and Humanities.
Figures
from the Federal Health Office shows cases are down 25% on last week – they
also point out the number of tests is down.
That view
is shared by the Basel based virus researcher Emma Hodcroft who says mask
wearing and canton Vaud bringing in stricter measures has helped.
Tanner also
says Switzerland’s federal structure means local responses can be faster which
is part of the reason the coutry is doing better than many other European
nations.
